Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip
Wind Direction: SE
Wind Stength: F3
Surf / Sea State: Lumpy
Air Temperature: warm
Sea Temperature: warm
Weather: sunny cloudy
Max Speed: 18.7 (knots - unless stated otherwise)
Distance Covered: 3.1 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

On Friday I drove 60 mls back and forth to the dip and still didn't get a sail - no wind. Sat forecast didn't show till I was in town shopping about 3 ish the trees were bent and the Felixstowe gauges were fired up. Rush down to see a few sailors tanking it on large kit. It looked great. Rigged 8.6 Gaastra Savage stepped on the board and bang my 2 year old C80 Unifibre 4.90 mast snapped at the joint and the joint was perfectly fitted after examination. They can send a man to the moon but windsurfing manufacturers can’t make a decent carbon mast to save their lives! This C80 2014 Unifibre mast was a "replacement" for the first mast C100 breaking on the first run! The supplier said don't buy any C100 because they are crap and unreliable, (said that after I bought it on black Friday sale, hmmmm) hence the swopped for a cheaper C80 (yep no part refund allowed). Now this poxy mast lasted less than 2 years and yep its out of warranty. Am I unlucky? Nope, Pryde 430 X6 broke in a straight line 3yrs old, Pryde 520 ditto only 4 yrs old. The same with ally booms (I would never buy another ally boom). This is supposed to be a tough sport and the gear should match it - but because racers change gear annually - most manufacturers don't give a toss so long as it lasts the one or 2 years warranty they give.
Tried a 7.8 North E type but not enough wind, so wallowed back in. My luck remained poor all day - £20 win double Chelsea / Celtic went down (the gooners did it again) and in my haste to make the spa be4 closure - didn't lock my board lock / keys padlock (masterlock with safe holder) on the trailer and it flew of the top with the locking cables. Luckily a motorist saw what happened and flashed. Found the keys everything 1/2 mile luckily in the verge on the A14. The masterlock looked battered but is still working fine - mast manufacturers take note! The poxy spa closed 1hr early due to a fire alarm (bet staff tripped that one off for an early exit!) Shite sport.
